报告人简介:
黄湧,本科毕业于北京大学,国家级领军人才;于美国芝加哥大学获得博士学位,师从Viresh Rawal教授,后于美国加州理工学院从事博士后研究,合作导师David MacMillan教授。出站后在美国默克制药(Merck & Co.)研发总部担任高级研究员,从事创新药物研发工作。2009-2019年在北京大学深圳研究生院担任教授、课题组长。于2019年加入香港科技大学,目前担任教授,课题组长。研究领域为有机合成方法学与药物化学。获得了Organic Letters杰出作者奖、罗氏中国青年学者奖等一系列学术荣誉。


报告简介:
Our research group is primarily focused on the development and exploration of highly selective catalytic transformations, with a particular emphasis on reactions involving well-defined transient reaction intermediates. Among these intermediates, carbenes represent a unique and intriguing class of reactive species that offer a plethora of opportunities for synthetic innovation and the advancement of organic chemistry. In our pursuit to understand and harness the hidden and alternative reactivities of these divalent species, we have developed novel approaches to carbene catalysis that enable the control of synthetic outcomes and selectivity. In this symposium, I will present our recent findings on two distinct yet complementary aspects of carbene catalysis: carbene mimetic catalysis and cascade catalysis. Our work on carbene mimetic catalysis explores the potential of carbene-like species to participate in catalytic cycles, thereby unveiling new reactivity patterns and enabling the development of innovative synthetic catalysis. Conversely, our exploration of cascade catalysis emphasizes the design of bis-carbene precursors that exploit the capacity of these reagents to generate two transient carbene species in a sequential manner, thereby facilitating highly chemo- and stereoselective poly-insertion reactions.
