报告人简介:

Prof. Simon Duttwyler obtained his PhD degree from the University of Zurich in 2010. He was a postdoctoral researcher at Yale University from 2010-2013. Afterwards, he joined Zhejiang University as a research professor in the Department of Chemistry as a 1000 Young Talents fellow. He became a full professor in January 2019. His group focuses on the chemistry of cage-shaped boron compounds based on the scaffolds [B12H12]2– and [CB11H12]. Icosahedral boron clusters are unique chemical building blocks that generally feature high stability, low toxicity and broad tunability in terms of chemical and physical properties. In particular, they study the organometallic chemistry of boron clusters and develop selective methods for their derivatization. One of the key strategies is transition metal-mediated B–H activation. Their transition metal-catalyzed transformations have provided access to a large number of tailor-made functionalized boron cages. Currently they apply these compounds in various fields such as ligand design/supramolecular chemistry, medicinal chemistry and materials science.
